Students of Tennessee Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (STAND) was created in 2016 with dietetic students and interns in mind. In 2016, Temple Hughs served as the Student Representative on the Board of Directors, and the partnership between the two triumphed. TAND provides oversight of STAND through appointment of a faculty adviser at the program where the president of STAND is enrolled as well as social media oversight by the TAND social media chair. For the 2017-2018 year, the STAND officers are: Allison Williams (President), Kecia Caldwell (President-Elect), Kaitlyn Ritter (Secretary), Kaitlyn Magnotte (Treasurer), and Olivia Kramer (Social Media Chair). Our goal is to connect dietetic students and interns across the state of Tennessee by encouraging networking and volunteering. We also work to empower and encourage dietetic students and interns to become future leaders in food and nutrition. With the help of our current faculty adviser, Amy Richards, the DPD Director at UT Martin, STAND looks forward to connecting our members using a student representative from each of the 11 DPD programs and 8 Dietetic Internships to coordinate our yearly events. This upcoming year STAND will provide various events such as a canned food drive, an education volunteering event, a penny war competition, and a fun run (open to both students/interns and professionals). An award will be given at the TAND Annual Meeting for the most active program. STAND looks forward to this 2017-2018 year.
